Prior to cleaning the ceramic tile floor surface, it is imperative that the wash mop, scrubbing pad, and water be thoroughly clean and the water changed frequently. Glazed Ceramic Tile Sealer or floor finish is not required on this type of ceramic tile with epoxy or polymer modified grouts. Portland cement grouts may require a sealer. Follow the ceramic tile manufacturer's recommended procedures to apply a sealer to portland cement grouted glazed ceramic tile floors. Slate, Marble, Granite, and Travertine Follow the directions as specified in section A.1. Following the rinse, inspect the floor. If there is a mild film, use a 5% solution or phosphoric or sulphamic acid to clean the floor. Follow this by neutralizing the surface by rinsing the floor thoroughly with clean water. When the surface is dry, apply a coat of sealer or silicone impregnator following the manufacturer's recommendations. For preventative maintenance, an entrance mat is the most basic requirement. It is importance to follow the manufacturer's strict written instructions. General Stain Removal Removal methods of spots and stains vary widely. When one method fails completely, a second or third might do the job effectively. Although stains and spots are not a common problem on ceramic tile surfaces, they do at times occur. Since the identity of a particular stain is sometimes unclear, its removal may take perseverance and patience.
